Tips for basic dental care by Dr. Neal R. Emad

Before you show up at a dentist’s office there are a few habits and practices that you can incorporate into your daily dental care. Prolific dentist from Virginia, Dr. Neal R. Emad, also advises you to boost these tips that by visiting the dentist for cleansing, check-ups and screening.

The most basic aspects of dental care are brushing your teeth and regular flossing.  You can also improve your dental health by incorporating vegetables, fruits, dairy products and whole grains into your diet. Basic dental care has numerous advantages.

One of them is that is helps to reduce or prevent tooth decay and also reduces the possibility of contracting gum or periodontal diseases. Dental charges are one of the highest medical costs you can incur. These basic dental care practices enable you to reduce the amount you have to spend on preventative, as well as curative, dental treatments and surgeries.

Basic Practices
Basic dental care is the one practice that guarantees your teeth to last a lifetime. Brushing and flossing rids your mouth of bacteria and germs that may precipitate gum or dental decay.

One of the most basic dental habits include brushing your teeth twice a day which helps to remove plaque. While at it, you should use toothpaste that contains fluoride and you should also incorporate mouthwash. Always use toothpaste that has been approved by the relevant dental associations in your country

One of the most ignored dental health care practices is cleansing of the teeth. There are tongue cleansers in the market that you can use or you can simply resort to using the bristle of your brush. Dr. Neal R. Emad also advises that children’s dental care should start at around six months of age.

Dr. Neal. R. Emad on Modern Dental implants

Implants are the best option for replacing missing or badly damaged teeth, says Dr. Neal. R. Emad from Virginia. They tend to be durable, natural-looking and very good overall. In addition to those benefits, they also strengthen the jawbone.

The titanium used to make implants over time fuses with the living bones. This osteophilic property was discovered in the 1950s with the first dental implant coming to use in the 1970s. From that single dental implant there now exist more than 40 different types of implants in modern dentistry.

A tooth’s outer part is known as crown and the inner part is the root. Implants are used to replace the roots and then covered with a new crown. Dental implantation is a minimally invasive surgery that often has no open wounds involved. An implant takes about 2-4 months to fuse with the implant site.  The crown is usually fixed after this fusion has taken place. The speed with which the fusion happens depends on the density of the site bone.

The need for implants can only be ascertained through dental examination by a qualified dentist. Most often the density of the bone at the point of the missing tooth is assessed before an implantation is made. Patients with weak bones can undergo bone regeneration to strengthen it enough for implantation.

Over 95% of dental implants turn out successfully according to clinical records, with the restorations lasting a lifetime. Dr. Neal. R. Emad specifies that dental implantations can be single tooth replacements, multiple tooth replacements, overdentures, orthodontics, or even temporary bridgework.

Trends In Dental Treatment by Dr. Neal R. Emad

The field of dentistry has certainly evolved since its inception thousands of years ago. “At one point, barbers doubled up as doctors performing basic medical procedures, including dental treatments”, says Dr. Neal R. Emad a dentist in Virginia.

As the field of dentistry has evolved, the main trends and innovations focus around appearance and improvements in dental technology.

The Rise in Curve Dental. Curve dental is a comprehensive web-based practice solution for dentists with small to mid-sized dental facilities. It is the best solution for managing nearly all aspects of dentistry from treatment planning, billing, patient dedication, imaging and reporting.

Spike in Cosmetic Dental. Cosmetic dentistry is often concerned with improving the appearance, but not necessarily the function, of a person’s teeth. It is primarily used to correct defects in color, size, position, smile appearance, shape and comfort of the patient. Cosmetic dentistry has risen in recent years to due to the rise of an appearance-obsessed society.

Nutrition Treatment.
Because we are a “fast” society that is always on the move, one of the aspects of life that has suffered is food quality. Foods that contain pesticide, hormones and artificial sugars tend to wreak havoc on our teeth.  Proper diets are increasingly becoming one of the preventative measures against dental illnesses.

Educated Patients. The modern day dental patient has access to tons of medical websites that offer remedies, possible diagnosis and recommendations. Virginia-based dentist, Dr. Neal R. Emad, reiterates to his fellow medics that while this knowledge does not substitute the intervention of a medical practitioner, expect a lot of questions when patients come to see you.
